About the project ‘Down There’
The Safari Club in Hamburg, 2009, is the only sex cabaret left out of nine on the Reeperbahn. It is the last sex-cabaret in Germany with the concession of showing life sex on stage. When the owner (82 years old) is gone away this place and its atmosphere will go with him. The famous sinful mile and red light district is turning into a living museum where tourists are searching the old times and politics are pushing towards modernity. Decades ago everyone could make money out of the district; today only few. The “millionaires” from yesterday are now on the edge of poverty.
